The development of ARC began 8 years ago as part of a project to create a specialised, untethered cooling solution for military applications. The result was ARTIC — a wearable cooling vest designed to regulate body temperature even under heavy protective gear.
Following strong interest beyond the military sector, the team expanded this innovation for broader use. The result is ARC — a next-generation wearable cooling solution designed for the mass market, delivering long-lasting, immersive 360-degree cooling.
Thermoelectric Cooling Technology is ST Engineering’s proprietary cooling solution, engineered to overcome the inherent limitations of conventional Peltier systems. While Peltier modules can rapidly reduce surface temperature, their effectiveness depends heavily on efficient heat dissipation.
ARC addresses this through an optimised thermal design that actively draws heat away from the source. By enhancing airflow through the device’s intake and integrating carefully selected heat sinks with an axial fan, the system delivers strong forced convection. This ensures efficient heat transfer, resulting in consistently lower surface temperatures and improved cooling performance.
To further enhance efficiency, software optimisation is applied to balance cooling output with power consumption. Through extensive real-world user testing, an optimal temperature range was identified, enabling ARC to deliver a comfortable cooling experience while extending battery runtime.
In today’s cooling solutions landscape, a wide range of alternatives exists — from traditional air-conditioning units to wearable cooling devices. However, ARC stands apart by combining multiple advantages into a single, integrated solution.
Compared to standing fans and portable air-conditioning units, ARC offers true mobility. It operates independently without the need for a fixed power source, allowing users to stay cool wherever they go.
While neck-worn cooling fans provide portability, they often lack adjustable temperature control and struggle with sustained performance. Cooling vests, although similarly priced, do not offer the same multi-modal cooling functionality.
Designed for both every day and industrial environments, ARC delivers superior cooling coverage and performance. With an IP54 water and dust-resistant rating, it is built to withstand demanding conditions such as workshops, warehouses, and shipyards. Its rugged construction, combined with safety features such as emergency shutdown and quick-release mechanisms, ensures reliable operation in challenging environments. With up to 8 hours of battery life, ARC is built to last throughout the working day.
